Good News Bible Church began in 1973 as an evangelical
alternative for the Iowa City, IA, community. Good News is an independent,
evangelical church and is a member in good standing of the National Association
of Evangelicals.
Good News strongly emphasizes our Lord's command to "make disciples of all
nations". This is done through an intellectually and spiritually
stimulating School of Christian Living/Sunday School on a corporate level.
Individually, we are committed to training and discipling those in our
congregation. Good News also has a strong emphasis on world missions and
evangelism. The church runs an active missions committee, is committed to faith
missions support, raises funds for missionaries, teaches on missions, and
encourages its members to go!
Another distinctive is Good News' support of home-schooling families. This in no
way alienates the non-home-schooling family, and those pursuing other
educational alternatives are equally supported.
Finally, we are seeking to impact the University of Iowa and Iowa City culture
and worldview with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
