We trust that this update finds you
well and enjoying your autumn activities. Here in
Ireland
the big news over the past couple of weeks has been the
Ryder Cup! As you may know this is a major Golf event played by the top
professional golfers from Europe vs. the
USA
every two years. This year it was hosted by the very nice and exclusive K-Club
just west of
Dublin
in Co. Kildare. Several months ago a friend in our church here in the Golf Tour
business organized tickets for several of us to attend the practice session on
last Wednesday (the 20th). I was planning to leave pretty early in
the day to drive five other men out there. I woke up at 4 AM very ill for the
first time in several years. I never made it out the front door and my friends
had to drive my car to the K-Club! This was very disappointing for me in that I
rarely have time and energy to attend many golf events and this was a once in a
lifetime opportunity! Oh well, such is life! As you may know, the Europeans went
on to a decisive victory over the
US
!
We are now very much in the swing of
a busy Fall Schedule but we have many fond memories of our summer vacation in
the
US
. As you may know, this summer Joyce and I took the twins, Jonathan and Nathan to
Wisconsin
,
Texas
,
Louisiana
, and
Illinois
, and several points in between. Neil
flew over from
Ireland
, joined us in
Texas
and spent a couple of weeks
traveling with us. We
visited with family along the way, particularly In Texas where we spent
about ten days with my sister Betty. It was good to spend some extended time
with her since she has been battling lung cancer.
